Gainsborough Community Choir started in September 2019, we initially met at Gainsborough Community Library on Clapgate Lane. The pandemic brought us many challenges but we continued to meet every week on Zoom! The first few sessions were a bit chaotic as we learnt how to use this new technology, but it enabled us to carry meeting and learning new songs together.
Once we were able to meet in person again, we decided to move in to Landseer Road Methodist Church as it gave us much more space which helped with the new rules regarding ventilation etc. It also has much better acoustics due to the higher ceiling 🙂
We meet every Thursday evening, 6.45 for a 7pm start and we finish about 8.15. There is no charge to join the choir or for any of the sessions and there are no auditions. We are funded by the Methodist church and by various grants, we are happy to accept any donations to assist with ongoing costs.
We sing a variety of songs, a few examples are :
Perfect, A million dreams, The Rose, I have a dream, Moon river, Amazing Grace, Fix You, Yesterday, Scarborough Fair, Annie’s song, Best of Bond, Circle of life and many more.
